Northumbria University

At Northumbria, experienced professors, academic experts and professional support staff are committed to giving you an educational experience that will set you up for life. We offer cutting-edge courses where you will debate, discuss, challenge and advance your knowledge and develop your critical thinking. We will also use our research to shape and enrich our teaching and learning and boost your independence. Northumbria University is delighted to be North East Schools Teaching Alliance’s Higher Education partner in the delivery of the school led PGCE teacher training programme, working with Nunthorpe Academy as the lead Teaching School in the Tees Valley area.

Northumbria has provided excellent primary and secondary Initial Teacher Training for many years and North East Schools Teaching Alliance has become part of a dynamic partnership committed to training outstanding teachers. We have a robust support structure which will allow North East Schools Teaching Alliance to plan and deliver the training that their trainees need, whilst ensuring that all aspects are compliant with ITE regulations. Whilst in training you will have access to all Northumbria student facilities and will undertake teaching at Level 7 which is equivalent to a third of a Master’s degree. You will also gain QTS and this will hopefully lead to employment within the North East Schools Teaching Alliance.

We invite you to join Northumbria University and North East Schools Teaching Alliance and look forwards to welcoming you on to the team!
